Co-founder of the ISDA back in 2000 and currently its Executive Director charged with the promotion and administration of the tour, this Toronto-based former University of Western Ontario standout (and college teammate of former North American Open Doubles champ Scott Stoneburgh) had perhaps his best season in 2008-09, highlighted by a pair of semifinal appearances keyed by upset victories in the quarters (in Wilmington with Steve Scharff with a win over Matt Jenson/Clive Leach, and in Cleveland with Jonny Smith at the expense of John Russell/Preston Quick), in each case with a first-time partner. In addition to these breakthrough performances, Hewitt’s slate last season included an 8-0 mark (spread out over four different partners) in round-of-sixteen competition, a run to the final of the season-opening Pittsburgh Challenger event with Mark Chaloner and the Philadelphia Racquet Club Challenger crown that he and Willie Hosey won by edging the tough hometown tandem of Shane Coleman and Gavin Jones in a four-game final. Married to Stephanie Richardson, who won the World Doubles with Jessica DiMauro this past spring and has teamed with her husband to win the ’04 U. S. Mixed and ’09 Canadian Mixed Doubles titles, this artist and father of three plays hockey and does conditioning work-outs with NHL players during the summer to get ready for the squash season.
