BROOKLYN: Pride may come before the fall. Then again, when it comes to Gary Waite and Damien Mudge, there may be no fall. With new kids on the block, Paul Price and Ben Gould, firmly locked in at the number one position via their 3 straight finals victories over Waite and Mudge, it looked like the end of an era. However, the real champs showed up for the David Johnson Memorial in Brooklyn, where they spanked Gould and Price 3-0 in the finals on their way to their 3rd title of the year. Whereas Gould and Price struggled with 3-2 wins over Butcher and Leach in the quarters, and also 3-2 over Russell and Quick in the semis, Waite and Mudge didn't drop a game all tournament as they easily defeated Jenson and Mulligan, then Walker and Berg en route to the finals. The handy victory sets up a nice race to the wire to see if we have a new number one team for the first time in 6 years. Porter/Cordova d. Atkinson/Sletteland 3-0 - Grant/Fawcett d.
