GREENWICH: How does the average doubles squash fan look at Ben Gould and Paul Price's thrilling victory at the North American Open? Is it a sign that by taking out Waite and Mudge in a five game (15-11 in the fifth) thriller, that finally, after seven years, Waite and Mudge have finally met their match and our on the downslide? Do we shower praise or Gould and Price for becoming the first team not named Waite and Mudge to hold the number one ranking this late in the season, and with no visible signs of giving it up? Or do we question how they worked full time in every match in the tournament, giving a glimmer of hope to everyone they played? First round, 3-2 over Scharff and Pentland. Quarters, 3-2 over Hosey and Bentley. Semis, 3-2 over butcher and Leach, including a thrilling 17-16 win in the fifth. Fortunately, squash isn't golf, and the question it's "how", not "how many."
