VANCOUVER: The beautiful Hollyburn Country Club played host to the ISDA's initial foray into western Canada at the Harrow Sports Vancouver Open. Gary Waite and Damien Mudge had no trouble with the field as they claimed their first title of the season with a 3-0 victory in the finals over John Russell and Preston Quick. The perennial champions didn't drop a game throughout the event, with successive straight game wins over Willie Hosey and Jamie Bentley in the quarters, and Paul Price and Clive leach in the semis. Quick and Russell disposed of Viktor Berg and Chris Walker 3-1 in the semis to earn their spot in the finals. With a light field, the verdict is out on whether this is a return to form for Waite and Mudge, or a chance to sneak in a win without Price and Ben Gould playing.
